California has its very own Mavericks, a world famous big wave spot off the coast near Half Moon Bay. But we don’t have those Maverick Helicopters (flymaverick.com) yet. Pictured is their recent grand opening in Maui on Lei Day, May 1. Maverick Helicopters flies more than 200,000 guests (the majority of them are Californians, no doubt,)  annually on tours in Grand Canyon, AZ,  Las Vegas, NV and now Hawaii. The company operates nearly 50 Airbus EC130 ECO-Star quiet technology helicopters recognized as the safest and most comfortable tourism based helicopters in the world.

Among the attendees were Founders and Owners of Maverick Helicopters Greg and Brenda Rochna, the Mayor of the County of Maui Alan Arakawa, the Economic Development Director for the County of Maui Office Of Economic Development Teena Rasmussen, President of Maverick Helicopters John Buch, Vice President of Marketing for Maverick Helicopters Bryan Kroten, Vice President of Government Relations for Maverick Helicopters Brian Brusa and Vice President of Operations for Maverick Helicopters Dale Cowley. The soiree kicked off with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Pledge of Allegiance led by local Boy Scouts and a Hawaiian blessing of the building and helicopters.
