California doesn’t rank among the top 10 spring break favorites for college students. It’s hard to compete with warmer beaches in Florida, Mexico, and the hot Las Vegas night life, or Lake Havasu party atmosphere. California remains a top tourist destination nevertheless. Students like to head for San Diego beaches, Hollywood/Venice Beach, San Francisco and national parks such as Yosemite during Spring Break.
The University of California this year offers students ample time to travel, head home, or even go abroad for Spring Break 2014. The official spring break dates for the UC campuses is March 24-28, a mere five days. Some end the quarter on Thursday, March 20 at noon and re-convene classes on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 because of Cesar Chavez holiday on Monday, March 31. That equates to 11 days of vacation!
