In less than a month the begonias growing in Capitola by the Sea will be picked and turned into beautiful floats that glide colorfully through the bay in one of California’s most unusual and most beautiful parades. The Capitola Begonia Festival Parade held annually on Labor Day Weekend, is special for many reasons, including the fact that locals grow their own begonias for the floats. You won’t find that kind of “Made in America” pride at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade where flowers are grown by vendors, sometimes outside the U.S. The entries in the Begonia Parade literally float along the waterways, entertaining and delighting the thousands of locals and visitors who come to this must-see event!
