For those who give a crap, California has a long tradition of featuring unique races such as this weekend’s Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce Famous Toilet Bowl Racer Challenge on May 5. Contestants must use real porcelain toilets for their race vehicles (none of that crappy plastic stuff allowed,) and all drivers under the age of 18 are required to wear protective gear — helmets, gloves, knee pads, elbow pads and shoes.
While the Conejo Valley Days (May 9-12) used to have outhouse races, nothing is mentioned for this year’s event. Maybe they don’t give a crap? Likewise, the Old Miners in Big Bear Lake used to have an outhouse race, and Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee (May 16-19) in Angels Camp offered one as well. Since they don’t promote these events now it’s possible the events got dumped / flushed. Please don’t get your knickers in a twist by showing up, expecting to see a fine assortment of toilets or outhouses.
