Pesticide residue tests recently conducted by USDA and FDA scientists took into account washing or peeling the food samples before they were tested. The foods listed were ranked in order of likely pesticide loads when people consume these items, with up to 13 different chemicals and pesticides found on a single crop or food item. Many pesticides pose health dangers to people and have been linked to brain and nervous system toxicity, cancer, hormone disruption, skin, and eye and lung irritation. Results also remained troubling for some baby foods purchased in American stores.
