Halloween in California offers many celebrations from haunted houses to trick-or-treating, and the ever-popular theme park thrills for adults. We’ll be covering most of them and have already mentioned this year’s Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags, Queen Mary and Great America have exciting entertainment for the older crowd. But for youngsters and those who don’t like bloody, horror themes, there are some special attractions that are family-friendly ways to get your kids hooked on the Halloween craze. The top 2 California theme park Halloween celebrations in California for kids are Disneyland – Mickey’s Halloween Party and Legoland’s Brick or Treat.
Disneyland has created a fine balance between just enough excitement for adults while providing non-scary entertainment for youngsters in a special admission event that requires you buy a ticket to the “Party”. It lets you in the theme park on select days 3 hours before general park closing, and then you can stick around till 11 p.m. on Monday or Tuesday nights, or midnight on Fridays if you like. During the “party time” there’s a special fireworks show, trick or treat stations, rides and Disney character entertainment. We’ll be covering the theme parks, one by one, as time permits, but for now, you may want to check out the park where magic takes place for all ages. The party begins this Friday, September 14 and goes through Wednesday, October 31, 2012. See: disneyland.com/halloween
