What are you doing this Earth Day? Hundreds of California cities are celebrating in some small or large way (here are a few.) Down in the Anderson Valley, home to towering redwoods, foggy mists, and premier Pinots, Earth Day this year has a special cause–to help fund Hendy Woods State Park. It is on the list of state park closures slated for around July 2012.
There are around 32 wineries in the Anderson Valley, a boon to the local economy once relying on lumber mills to pay the bills. Join the Anderson Valley Winegrowers on April 22, 2012 for an Earth Day benefit BBQ and silent auction, and be sure to take in a visit to Hendy Woods, well known for a fallen redwood stump that was home for a man known locally as the Hendy Woods Hermit.
