On Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 the public is invited to national parks free admission day. At Grand Canyon Mather Point the weather is expected to peak at around 53 degrees on Martin Luther King holiday (January 20), while back in L.A. it will be a sunny, dry and around 77 degrees. You can make it a weekend vacation heading out of Barstow, Calif. to the Grand Canyon for a 5-6 hour trip. If you’d rather stay in California, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Sequoia & Kings Canyon, Whiskeytown and Yosemite are some national parks where you’d normally pay and will find savings of around $15-20. Here’s a list of California’s national parks or see nps.gov (If you miss this opportunity to see a national park free, the next event will be February 15-17, 2014 in honor of Presidents Day Weekend.)
