This is nut harvest season. The almonds are as soft and smooth as butter. But this weekend it’s all about Pistachios in the Mojave Desert at the Newberry Springs Pistachio Festival on November 2, 2013.   On the very same day 280 miles away in the Central Valley north of Fresno, the Madera Pomegranate Festival celebrates another fruit (pistachios, almonds and other nuts are fruits, too!)

November nearly feels dreary as far food festivals go. The strawberry festivals ended in June, the watermelon festivals in July &  August, the Greek food festivals ended in September, and in October tomatoes, olives, avocados and pumpkins that sweeten the pie are but a memory, as far as festival in California go. So what’s there to celebrate in November?

Fruit Festivals in November, here’s a few:

  • PISTACHIOS – Nov. 2, 2013 in Newberry Springs
  • POMEGRANATES – Nov. 2, 2013 in Madera
  • MANDARINS – Nov. 22-24, 2013 in Auburn
  • APPLES (Apple Butter) Nov. 29-Dec. 1 in Yucaipa
