Pig races are one of the most popular attractions at the county fair and have been for years. In a high tech world you’d think they would be out of style by now (like last year’s bacon festivals) but they’re not. The big players in the pig racing business, All-Alaskan Racing Pigs (shown), Swifty Swine Productions and Robinson’s Racing Pigs, have entertained millions of fans, one race at a time, for several decades. Like turkey stampedes that also have a fan base, the pig races are all about getting to the finish line first to get some treats (usually cookies or other sweets.) This weekend the Alaskan Pigs are booked at two fairs in California, the Santa Barbara Fair & Expo, and the Merced County Spring Fair in Los Banos, both taking place April 29-May 3, 2015. Here are some fairs where you can catch the pigs live in 2015!
