Alcatraz was one of the nation’s most secure prisons, sitting on a small island off the coast of San Francisco. Today it is a national landmark hosting thousands of tourists daily who ride cruise boats over to Alcatraz Island to explore its history and lore. Most visitors have intense curiosity and a fascination for the place. Some even see ghosts.
On my visit to Alcatraz I liked taking photos but thought the crowds were a little too intense, so I sat on a bench and watched people wander like ants. As a friend sat down beside me, we noticed people wandering an upper level. We wanted to see it so we wandered over to the area where it should have been. There was nothing…no stairs, no balcony and no people. Completely perplexed we asked ourselves if it was our imagination, or was it some sort of time warp? To this day we get a strange feeling thinking about the invisible people we both saw. Yeah, it’s spooky!
