When Santa arrives in his sleigh with lighted, fancy-feet reindeer leading the way, the San Rafael Lighted Boat Parade has begun. The annual event plies the canals of San Rafael with boats from the Bay Area participating and entertaining thousands of holiday hounds. Held today, Dec. 13, 2014, at 5:30 p.m., you can enjoy the sparkling lights and revelry from the banks of the river. The tradition which began in the 1960s with around 8 participants quickly grew and now exceeds 80 boats & yachts. If canals are your thing, in Southern California you can catch the Naples Boat Parade on the same night.
