Your Huckleberry Finn Dad on Father’s Day

Published on: June 17, 2012

Dad had a different life growing up compared to today. He never knew about Facebook, the Smart Phone, and Ipads when he was a kid.   And he really walked a mile to school! He also played in a creek. That’s how it was in the old days. Kids were told to stay outdoors and play. Maybe he was a skateboarder, a surfer, or he worked in a job after school. Whatever your dad did, there’s lots to be said for the way he lived and what he became. Here are some reasons dad had it pretty good:

  • No GMOs (genetically modified foods laced with built-in Round-up poisons)
  • No Fukushima disaster
  • No plastic and pills in the drinking water supply
  • No x-ray machines and body searches at airports
  • No cell phones and cell tower radiation
  • No smart meters

OK, maybe dad isn’t so old as to not have experienced cell phones, but his world was different, no doubt. If he talks like he was Huckleberry Finn carrying a knapsack on his back, no shoes and tattered coveralls, be sure to remind him of how lucky he was and how lucky your are to have him. Wish him Happy Father’s Day with an old fashioned hug. It’s timeless!

Note: Photo is from Huck Finn Jubilee in Victorville. Today is the last day of the music festival filled with events such as a kids “paint the fence” contest, raft riding, and REAL old-fashioned banjo music!
