At the U.S. – Mexico border in San Diego County is a fascinating and fun town nestled in the Jacumba Mountains at 2,800 feet. You may have to go out of your way a little to find it though Jacumba once was a popular road stop on the first all-weather interstate Highway 80 between the west and east coasts. Snowbirds actually flock to Jacumba each winter to escape the Eastern freeze (here are average weather temps).  Remembrances of the past include the town’s centennial celebration this year featuring some great events!
