While the Irish celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the Persians are jumping over the bonfire for good luck in cultural new year celebrations taking place in mid-March with the arrival of spring. Nowruz means ‘new day’.

In Los Angeles the Farhang Foundation hosts Nowruz (Iranian New Year) Celebration at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on March 23, 2014. The event includes a traditional Iranian Costume Parade. Most events are free and open to the public, while a festival presentation inside the theater costs $15. See lacma.org
