In Newport Beach where Persian friends and families gather around the bonfire rings at Corona del Mar State Beach to jump over them in their annual tradition, it may be their last season to celebrate the new year if the Coastal Commission says the city of Newport Beach can get rid of the rings. The city council there voted unanimously to remove them.
