June 2012 Fairs in California Offer Carnival Rides, Funky Foods and Fun

It’s that fun time of year. It’s time to ditch the bikini and head to the fair. Wear blue jeans and a t-shirt so you can pork out on delicious BBQ sandwiches, roasted corn and the newest desserts this year. In the past fair-goers tasted fried butter on a stick, fried frog legs, fried candy bars and other such artery-clogging confections. Of course there’s the ever-popular pig races, plus a barnyard full of fun–cows, sheep and chickens. Contests include pie baking, wood-crafting and sewing–some call them lost arts but at the county fair there’s still a homespun atmosphere as comforting as Mom’s apple pie! Try a fair. You’ll like it!
