How weird can California’s festivals be? Just go to the annual How Weird Festival on San Francisco streets and you’ll see! San Clemente has a festival celebrating the ocean — not so strange. Pacifica loves its fog and has a festival that’s all over it. Oakdale does a festival about testicles — and Watsonville does, as well! From bathtub to bed races, cockroach or outhouse runs, there’s a festival for just about anything you can imagine.
Unusual festivals in California include Undie Runs, Liar’s Contest, Earthquake Festival, Bigfoot Days, Flying Saucer Contest, Squirrel Roundup, Glass Pumpkin Patches and so much more.
Sometimes the name alone can draw a crowd — like BreastFest. It’s actually a Marin County beer festival to raise funds for breast cancer treatments, though the name of the event is certainly an eye-catcher.
