Lighthouses of the California coast are timepieces of the past, once created to alert passing ships of potential dangers such as land. Nearly every lighthouse has been decommissioned as modern communications have eliminated the need to keep a light burning and lightkeeper working. Lighthouses are often isolated, remote and in the case of Crescent City’s Battery Point Lighthouse, accessible only during low tides.
