Lodi Sandhill Crane Festival and The Trilled Cries That Bind

Published on: October 29, 2013

Cranes have a remarkable ability to find each other through vocalizing. Even in large flocks, lost family members re-unite after making their trilled cry. Cranes also exhibit distinct postures, from dancing and tossing sticks in courtship to bowing their red-crowned heads in aggression to stretching out their neck to signal that people are too close. Sound fascinating? It’s better than you can imagine! Sure there are thousands of birds at the Lodi Sandhill Crane Festival held Nov. 1-3, 2013 and sure, there are thousands of people, too. What a fantastic event you won’t want to miss!
