Penguin Watching Attracting Huge Crowds in Long Beach

Round and round they go and where they stop nobody knows. Darting and diving. Zooming and winking. Splishing and splashing. Adorable and playful Penguins have become a major hit with locals and tourists at the spectacular Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.

When its guests spoke, the Aquarium listened and took action. Exit Surveys showed that visitors to the sensational seaside attraction wanted to see penguins, so the aquarium made it happen.

An anonymous donor helped make possible the new June Keyes Penguin Habitat that features 13 adorable Magellanic Penguins, native to Chile and Argentina. READ MORE…>

  •  World of Penguins Guest Lecture Friday, June 8, 2012  7 -8:30 p.m.
    In a special presentation themed to coincide with the new June Keyes Penguin Habitat unveiled in May 2012, penguin expert Dee Boersma will discuss her research on seabirds like Magellanic Penguins as indicators of environmental change.  Cost: $5 for public; FREE for Aquarium members, teachers, and students with valid ID and advanced reservations.   •  Aquarium After Dark Saturday, June 9, 2012
    Experience the Aquarium like never before, and find out what really happens in the ocean…after dark. Guests will enjoy animal encounters, hands-on interactive experiences, live entertainment, hosted bar, strolling gourmet food stations, and more. Celebrating our relationship with our ocean planet, this fundraiser will benefit the Aquarium’s ocean education and conservation efforts.   • Aquarium of the Pacific Late Nights  Sundays June 10-Sept. 2, 2012  5-9 p.m.
    The public is invited to enjoy the Aquarium of the Pacific after hours while taking advantage of special savings. During Sundays in the summer the Aquarium will offer its Late Nights where admission just $14.95 per adult and $13.95 per child after 5 p.m., and the Aquarium remains open until 9 p.m.
  • Father’s Day BBQ   Sunday, June 17, 2012  11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
    Savor lunch, enjoy picturesque views of Rainbow Harbor, and delight in the underwater sea life of the Aquarium.
