Longest and Shortest Fairs in California

Contra Costa County Fair (in photos) starts today. It’s not the shortest or longest fair in California. Its “run” is average — around four days. Held in Antioch, go see it if you can. The event features the usual carnival rides, pig races, livestock and the well known band, Foghat.

There are 78 fairs in California that adhere to the rules and guidelines produced by the California Division of Food and Agriculture, Division of Fairs & Expositions. The smallest lasts only one day and is located in what many consider the premier wine growing county of Calfornia. The three longest fairs all tie for the honor of 30 days. The largest fairs take place in Southern California where there’s maybe not as much agriculture, but certainly more people eager to enjoy the carnival atmosphere.  Here’s the shortest & longest…>
