Mt. Shasta Ski Park hasn’t officially opened for the 2013 season yet but the management says it’s coming close, according to their website and Facebook posts, which announced they have begun making snow. Built in 1985 Mt. Shasta Ski Park is the newest winter resort in California and one of the newest in the entire United States. The Guinness Book of World Records lists Mount Shasta receiving the most snowfall ever in a single snowstorm–189 inches on February 1959. Shortly after opening for the season, the annual New Year’s celebration with live music, fireworks and torchlight parade takes place on Dec. 31. Here are some stats about the ski park such as number of chairs, slopes, type of trails, etc.
