Ever been to Ocean Beach Oktoberfest in San Diego? Guests who check it out in advance know just what to expect — outdoor beach location next to OB Pier, beer festival, food vendors, stein holding competition and oh yeah, bikini contest (also known as Ms. Oktoberfest.)
While most Oktoberfest events in California prohibit bikinis into their events & especially in their stein holding contests, anyone who’s been to Ocean Beach knows that the San Diego beach communities (OB, Pacific Beach and Mission Beach) answer to a different beat. In fact, this Oktoberfest Oct.11-12, 2019, might as well be called a beer beach fest with its lively games, colorful location and choice of music (Band of Gringos, High Fire Society, Electric Waste and oh yeah, the Okto fave — Funk ‘n Stein!)
Just a week before this big event Pacific Beachfest Oct.5, 2019, celebrates San Diego’s beloved beaches and lifestyle with beer, bands, bikinis and foods such as Fish Taco Contest.
Meanwhile, 115 miles north and a couple hours of freeway driving to get there from OB, Uberfest is happening Oct.4-5 & Oct.11-12, 2019 in San Pedro. Billed as “The biggest Rock and Roll Oktoberfest party in California,” the event says it is “the first modern Oktoberfest of its kind in the U.S. where Oompah meets rock and roll.”
While it does matter how the DJs spin the tunes and bands rock out at these octane-laced favorites, let the people decide who’s got the best, boldest, rockin’est festival north of the border. Catch them and be the judge. Prost!
