You never knew you were afraid of heights till you suddenly find yourself peering out from the edge of cliff, realizing that one slip and you’re a goner.  California does all it can to protect people. They put up signs, sometimes there are rails, but often there’s nothing at all that says, “Danger”.  There are places that will blow you away with their beauty, but don’t let them blow you away forever when a strong wind passes by. Hang on and be safe!

Here are 5 of the Best Ocean Viewing  Spots in California:

• SAN DIEGO – Point Loma Cabrillo National Monument. Next to the giant Cabrillo statue you can see downtown San Diego, Coronado, Hotel del, and the distant mountains. People go here to watch boat races or gaze at the cityscapes.
• RANCHO PALOS VERDES – It’s a vertical drop from lookout points to the rocky beach below. Several teens commited suicide here. Your chance of survival is extremely slim. You can’t see where the cliff stops due to grass growing over the edges. Don’t veer that far because it’s far too risky. Also watch the kids and hang onto them.
• BIG SUR COAST – Unsolved Mysteries featured a case where a single woman traveling with a couple she trusted was pushed over the cliff along the Big Sur Coast. When you stop your car and look down to see cars that have gone over the edge of cliffs, it’s a solemn reminder that the coastline here is unforgiving.
• SAN FRANCISCO GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE – Though the 75th anniversary will be filled with laughter and celebrations on May 27, 2012, most won’t talk about it being the suicide bridge (the most suicides from any bridge in the world.) You can park your car and walk on the Golden Gate Bridge to see forever views of the city on a clear day. But don’t jump–few have survived it.
• MUIR WOODS – An incredible walkway takes you above the edge looking straight down. How beautiful–and awesome! Though the railing provides a sense of safety, you wouldn’t want to trip & fall in this location.
