Pacific Coast Fog Festival in Pacifica, south of San Francisco, was initially designed to attract tourists through a celebration of coastal life. The event takes place last full weekend in September, for maximum sun exposure. It’s called a Fog Fest, and you usually won’t be disappointed to see sunshine, though fog during the early morning Fog Run is likely to occur. The free fog festival takes place on September 28-29, 2013. See pacificcoastfogfest.com (In San Francisco on September 28 another Fog Festival takes place at Exploratorium, located approx. 17 miles and 25 minutes distance by car.)
