Power of Pink

Published on: June 10, 2012

Have you ever stopped to consider how much influence a color can have? An entire GREEN movement involves billions of dollars spent on everything from soaps to recycling to money, of course.

PINK is having its day in the sun. There’s a popular singer called Pink, there’s a line of sexy clothing produced by Victoria Secret with the word, PINK, emblazoned on pants, shirts and underwear, and then there’s the famous California business, Pink’s hot dogs. And nature gives one special creature a pink skin to enjoy. The pigs and piglets you’ll see at the fair come in all shades of pink and they never go out of style!

Marketers say that colors can influence our decisions to buy, sleep, feel relaxed and even eat. You notice places such as McDonalds use the colors red & yellow, supposedly proven to get consumers to purchase more food. Burger King and other chain stores use the colors as well. What does the color pink convey or do? They say it’s the color of romance. It is a color that relaxes people. When babies and small children’s genders aren’t easily recognizable parents often dress their girls in pink. And there’s a saying that when you’re “in the pink” things are going well.
