This weekend is the convergence of several holidays where you’ll find some saying, “Make Love, Not War,” and others declaring: “Let the battle begin.” That’s what happens when Valentine’s Day meets Presidents’ Day Weekend.
Other rowdy entertainment that shoots an arrow in Cupid’s heart includes Kernville’s Whiskey Flat Days where Gunfights, Cowboy Cook’n and Whiskey Flats Saloon do a darned good job of showing people what the old days were like. Should there be a need, the Justice of the Peace will be on hand to officiate shotgun weddings.
The ScotsFestival at Queen Mary Feb. 14 & 15 starts with Rock Yer Kilt concert on Friday the 13th. Scots are about love and war. A Scottish person in our household explained: “The Scots fight among themselves but when there’s a common enemy they ban together and become fierce warriors!”
Indio Date Festival & Riverside County Fair Feb. 13 -22 includes war & peace. When newly-crowned Queen Scheherazade (Carla Cabrera,) steps into the spotlight and the Arabian Nights musical pageant begins, it’s a shining moment not to be eclipsed by the roar of WGAS Motorsports Monster Trucks & Freestyle Moto X, a showdown in the Grandstand arena on Feb. 16.
