Californians put their pumpkins in all sorts of places during Halloween season, but one of the more unique locations is piers. Pictured are pumpkins and a fake spider on a pier overlooking historic Balboa Pavilion in Newport Beach. Creating an eerie silhouette as the sun goes down in shades of orange, visitors can stroll Balboa Island to see colorful holiday decorations and pumpkins scattered all over–you’ll even see them in flower boxes in front of Balboa Island Post Office! Be sure to take a Ferris wheel ride at Balboa Fun Zone where you can see the piers and entire bay as the sun goes down this Halloween.
For a REALLY COOL celebration head for California’s Central Coast to celebrate the annual Pumpkins on the Pier event. The city of Pismo Beach hosts the festival at Pismo Beach Pier with pumpkin decorating, face painting, costume contests, bounce houses and Downtown trick or treating on October 27, 2012.
