A California state park located on along the southern edge of the Sierra mountains looks like it’s bleeding when it rains. The red color pours out of rocks formed during millions of years of erosion responsible for the shapes that visitors see today. Camping in Ricardo Campground at the base of dramatic desert cliffs features 50 primitive campsites, potable water, pit toilets, fire rings (bring your own firewood,) and tables. There are no RV hook-ups or showers. Located 125 miles north of Los Angeles, Red Rock Canyon State Park is one of California’s best kept secrets. See redrockrrcia.org
