Each month when 40 galleries open their doors for First Thursday Laguna Beach Art Walk ( firstthursdaysartwalk.com), art lovers have some tough choices to make. The Walk spans two miles along Coast Highway and Laguna Canyon Road, allowing only 4.5 minutes to spend at each gallery if you want to visit all of them on foot–a near impossible task! You’ll see why they call Laguna Beach the City of Art when you visit. During the summer three more art venues — Art A-Fair, Sawdust Festival and Pageant of the Masters — are also open.
At Laguna Beach’s Art Walk galleries often provide cheese & wine, art demonstrations and live musical acts to make you feel right at home. Then there’s the artsy people who attend. They dress a little avante garde, looking like they stepped right out of paintings (which they possibly have if they are volunteer actors from Pageant of the Masters). Free shuttles help you get between galleries faster at this free monthly event.
