The Sacramento Festival of Family (festivaldelafamilia.org) celebrates the many Latin cultures of the Central Valley and California Gold Country at its 21st annual event this weekend at Sacramento’s Cal Expo on April 29, 2012. This isn’t your typical celebration where only one country such as Mexico and one type of music is served up. The event showcases the popular, hot dances such as salsa, rumba and others that have created a wave of interest in dance schools around the nation, but especially in California.
Eat sizzling foods, buy art from a variety of Latin American countries, and watch entertainment all day long provided by quality dance groups. 21 countries are represented in dances of Colombia, Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Mexico and other places near and far. Professional and community dance organizations primarily based in California entertain with authentic dance styles and costumes you’ll typically see when traveling to other countries. There’s something for all ages in the day-long cultural feast. If you miss this event, stay tuned for the Sac Jazz Festival on Memorial Weekend. It’s worth the trip!
