What’s your musical pleasure? If you’re into fiddles, bass, clarinets, sax and other fine instruments, you could be in for a treat at several (among many) California music festivals. Here are just a few annual highlights for you to consider….
COLUMBIA: Fiddle & Bango Contest Sept.28, 2019. Held in the Sierra foothills at Columbia State Historic Park.
DANA POINT: Ohana Sept.27-29 at Doheny State Beach features rock and acoustic faves such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus and Eddie Vedder.
EDWARDS: Wasteland Weekend Sept.25-29. Lots of bands at this Mad Max-style, post-apocalyptic themed event.
GRASS VALLEY: KMVR Celtic Music Festival Sept.27-29. Molly’s Revenge, Galen Fraser Trio and many greats perform.
KERNVILLE: Kern River Rock N Blues Festival Sept.26-29 isn’t just a festival, it’s a way of life.
MONTEREY: Monterey Jazz Festival Sept.27-29. If you love jazz, this festival is the ultimate in entertainment! Listen to Diana Krall, Christian McBride Big Band, Chris Botti, Snarky Puppy and over 100 all star acts.
MURRIETA: Get Shamrocked Music Festival Sept.27-28. Murrieta Town Square Park. The theme is Irish, Celtic rock tunes and the bands absolutely (sham)rock.
ONTARIO: Huck Finn Jubilee Sept.27-28. Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park 800 N. Archibald. Many considered this long-running event down for the count. But several years ago yet another enterprise wouldn’t let it die. They resurrected a popular bluegrass and folk music festival featuring bands such as The California Honeydrops, Steep Canyon Rangers, and Dustbowl Revival.
SAN LUIS OBISPO: Boots & Brews Music Festival Sept.28 at Madonna Inn’s Meadows.
TORRANCE: Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival Sept.28.
WILLITS: Emandal Not Just Cowboy Poetry Sept.28 hosted At a Farm on the (Eel) River
YERMO: Calico Days Sept.28-29. The focus here is activities, with some music mixed in for good measure.
