Some Like It Hot for Super Bowl Weekend
Though it’s not expected to reach much lower than 30 degrees during the Super Bowl game in New Jersey this weekend, Californians shamefully (and with no apologies) will be out running in the hottest place on Earth–Death Valley. The temperature is expected to be quite mild (around 66 degrees) for the weekend Death Valley Borax Marathon.
For those who prefer ocean breezes, there’s a marathon in Huntington Beach and a half marathons in Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, San Francisco and Ventura, all touched with Pacific Ocean breezes and temperatures between 55 & 65 degrees.
In Sacramento the Jed Smith Ultra Classic 50K, 50 mile races takes place on the weekend, and shorter races in Bakersfield, Sacramento and Visalia promise a fun 10K run. These Super Bowl weekend races generally take place before the Super Bowl game begins on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014.
