SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF.–When sweet Rosalie Meyer Stern purchased Stern Grove in 1931 and gifted the park to the City of San Francisco in memory of her husband Sigmund, there was a catch (no free lunch, right?) It would be used for admission-free cultural performances. As Stern Grove Festival looks ahead to its 76th season June 16 through August 18, 2013, popular season openers Michael McDonald and Bozz Scaggs will draw huge crowds. You can reserve seating by purchasing tickets for the Big Lunch event (see sterngrove.org) or else it’s first come, first serve– FREE. Note: Look forward to hundreds of free concerts for the summer 2013–most cities post schedules in the Spring.
