Many of the trees in California’s redwood forests are older than the birth of Jesus. And if that isn’t enough to bring a White Christmas, try seeing the spectacular white tree, also known as the Albino Tree or Spirit Tree. There are less than two dozen Albino trees anywhere on Earth, and six of these rare “forest ghosts” live in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The Albino taps into the roots of a nearby redwood tree for sustenance, but lacks chlorophyll (the green substance that allows plants to convert sunlight into food,) so its needles never turn green.
