The first-ever children’s play area at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) – dubbed LAX Beach opened this past week in the New Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) with a celebratory birthday party. Located beyond Transportation Security Administration (TSA) passenger security screening, the 971-square-foot LAX Beach will allow children 2 to 11 years old an opportunity for fun before boarding long international flights. The area is a beach-themed play space composed of soft, sculpted foam pieces resembling beachscapes like waves, surfboards, beach toys and dolphins — adding a playful, colorful extension of the Pacific Ocean influence on the New TBIT’s design. The space also features a slide, an interactive light table, and life savers for children to crawl through. Adjacent seating overlooking the area also offers a place for parents to relax.
