The Heat is On This Labor Day Weekend

Some students have already returned to fall school session in California, but parents still see Labor Day Weekend as the last chance to go on vacation.  Travel is expected to be up slightly over last year, as gas prices hold steady, according to AAA, which annually issues a report on the Labor Day Weekend travel projections. Not everyone will get to take a vacation, however. Several thousand fire fighters fighting the Yosemite Rim Fire will keep working. The fire isn’t expected to be contained fully for about a week. Road closures into Yosemite National Park are limited to just a few highways and the park is fully open.

Labor Day 2013:

  • San Diego remains top tourist destination for Labor Day Weekend.
  • Hotel deals can be found in and around San Francisco on Labor Day Weekend.
  • California Highway Patrol is out in force and may set up surprise check points to test for alcohol consumption.
  • Rest stops will be popular for taking breaks. It’s a great idea to stop and stretch, whether you use the facilities or not.
  • BBQs will be the top meals served, much like the 4th of July. Hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken continue to be Labor Day Weekend faves.
