Accidents happen. This past weekend a woman media described as a “daredevil” was killed on Saturday after her paraglider slammed into the cliff above Black’s Beach in La Jolla, California. This is one incident you can’t prepare for in the book of nude beach etiquette (Black’s is a nude beach.)
After Pamela HargettĀ lost control and crashed into the Torrey Pines bluffs, her boyfriend called 911, and she was airlifted to a hospital in La Jolla where she was pronounced dead. The woman, believed to be 52, was visiting from North Carolina.
Torrey Pines Gliderport is one of America’s oldest active gliderports. Established in 1928, Gliderport is a recognized San Diego Landmark which served as the training ground for aviation great Charles Lindbergh. Today visitors can learn to hang glide, paraglide, or take a tandem ride with a guide.
