You never know what to expect when summer comes along and Universal Studios City Walk unveils its free concert line up. After featuring weekly Hispanic music nights, rap music and other targeted audiences / genres in past seasons, in 2013 the theme might best be described as a return to the classics, plus up & coming young pop artists. Two of the best known acts this summer are the Spazmatics and the band Hoobastank. The Spazmatics (left photo) were born in the spring of 1983 when physics professor Kevin Stigwood of Alta Dena High in Thousand Oaks California, lost a debate over String Theory to an upstart pupil in front of the entire student body and faculty. Hoobastank got its start not far away in Agoura Hills some 21 years later. Both bands are known for their entertaining stage presentations and great music.
