The lost art of accordion playing isn’t so lost in Cotati, California, where each summer the town gathers ’round for one of the biggest accordion festivals in the nation. It’s amazing to see all the accordion players come out and into the park for a two day event that showcases some of the best accordion talent to be had. The 22nd Annual Cotati Accordion Festival (cotatifest.com) takes place Sat. & Sun. August 18 & 19, 2012, 9:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. at La Plaza Park in Cotati, where you’ll find a statue of locally famous Jim Boggio. He was a large man with an even bigger heart, and he played the accordion exceedingly well. He helped organize the event that has become a tradition.
