The moon must be in the 7th House this weekend as Jupiter aligns with Mars. There’s just too much strangeness going on out there but then again, it’s only California. In the photos left to right: at Petaluma’s Butter & Eggs Days Parade a funky chicken rides on an antique car–and people actually cheer! Next, a girl plays with fire, a UFO floats in the air and a guitarist rocks out on the ground during the Doo Dah Parade in Pasadena. 2nd photo from the right shows a girl who walks on stilts at San Francisco’s How Weird Festival parade. And finally in right photo, all you need is love as flower power hippies take a trip down Memory Lane at Eureka’s Rhody Parade.
The weekend is made for a little bit of letting go and a whole lot of fun. If you don’t float your boat watching Newport Beach’s Newport to Ensenda race or seeing that city’s Film Fest screenings, head to Pasadena for the annual, entertaining Doo Dah Parade on April 27, 2013. On the very same day hundreds of miles away it feels like another planet as funky chickens and cute little chicks celebrate Petaluma’s Butter & Eggs Day Parade. History comes to life as Egg Capitol of the World remembers its golden era. And for rock band roadies and flower rhodies, be sure to mellow out at the Rhododendron Parade in Eureka. Then on Sunday, April 28 in San Francisco, How Weird Festival is exactly what the name implies–weird. Get use to it!
