Pictured are the sidewalks of Balboa Island yesterday, a week before Memorial Day (Weekend) vacation.
If the predicted traffic jams at Staples Center in Los Angeles Sunday weren’t quite so bad, maybe that’s because people headed for the beach. From Malibu to San Diego, it was jammed and many parking lots were completely full by 2 p.m.!
What’s going on? The inland weather wasn’t particularly hot and beaches weren’t that warm either. But people came and they drove around, and they looked for parking. Some left without finding a spot. We were among those ready to give it up after about 40 minutes of searching. But like so many patient travelers, something opened up and then we got to get out of the car and join the crowds. What a day! Maybe people are getting a head start on their summer vacations. But more likely, people are staycationing and doing things “on the cheap”.
