It may be the year of the snake in 2013, but dog owners and their canine family and friends think they’ve go the world by the tail this year. Pictured are several such characters who tried set a Guinness World Record for surfing at the Surf City Surf Dog competition last year in Huntington Beach. They promise to be back September 27-29, 2013 and try again. See: surfcitysurfdog.com. The record they tried to best was set last year at the Surf Dog competition in Coronado. That event made history with three Guinness Book of World Records, including:
• Most amount of dogs surfing on one board at one time (more than 10 dogs)
• Most amount of dogs surfing on one board at one time with a human (Scott Chandler)
• Most amount of dogs surfing on one board at one time with two humans (Scott and Tyler Chandler)
Most of this year’s surfing dog contests are to be determined or announced, but here are last year’s details. For other fun dog contests, the annual World’s Ugliest Dog returns to Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma on June 21, 2013. See details: sonoma-marinfair.org/worlds-ugliest-dog
