Oceanside is located in San Diego County, a quick freeway exit from the Interstate 5 Freeway. You can see the California Welcome Center sign on the freeway and the exit is a quick turn-off, so you have to be prepared to stop.

Oceanside's Welcome Center became one of the earliest such centers opened in California, and even though it has been around a long time, the hospitality that greets travelers remains incredible.

Restrooms, tourist gifts such as hats that say "California" and of local interest, "101" items that pay tribute to California US 101 in Oceanside have included beach bags, shirts and coffee mugs.

The gifts are great, but the one thing people seek most is information to help them get the best bang for their road trip. Sometimes you may be lost. The volunteers who work at the Oceanside - California Welcome Center know their city well, and they can fill you in on what's great to see. Among the places and things they usually recommend are dining, the California Surf Museum, and Oceanside Pier.

It's not all about Oceanside at the Welcome Center, and the volunteers have information about Orange C0unty / Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, and San Diego Zoo, Legoland in Carlsbad, and all the places you may be thinking of visiting during your travels.
