Claremont, Calif.-The largest botanic garden dedicated exclusively to California's native plants is Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden (RSABG). Spanning 86 acres, the Garden is nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains approx. 35 miles east of Los Angeles. In addition to interesting lectures, tours and self-guided exploring, there are some exciting gifts in the Botanic Garden's shop. Hand-made baskets and pottery made by members of the Pai Pai and Kumeyaay Indians tribes in Baja California, Mexico, have been extremely popular since the shop began selling them crafted items.
Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden is open daily (except holidays) and is an exceptional example of how consumers can go native in California.
