These furry people are getting gussied up for the Haute Dog Costume Contest and Parade in Belmont Shore, Calif. today, October 30, 2011. Hoping to set a Guinness record for number of dogs dressed up in a parade, they are aiming for 10,000 pooches to participate. The dogs see it as the golden opportunity to get out and meet other dogs, sniff a new park, and basically get treats.
The event takes (0r took) place in Belmont Shore’s Livingston Park around 2:30 p.m. But first there’s Pumpkin Drop in which an 80 foot pumpkin comes floating, flying or crashing down. We suspect the giant pumpkin is filled with treats but that’s not a sure bet, and it also isn’t known if these supposed treats are for people or pets. There should be plenty of fur flying! Photos will be posted after the event (justinrudd.com).
