When the pink Studebaker golf cart rolls past, or you see Ziggy Zebra and street sweepers right behind cleaning up the fictional mess, you’ll know you’ve arrived at one of the zaniest events to hit the California desert, the annual Golf Cart Parade. Sure, there’s the Peg Leg Liar’s Contest held in the desert, but nothing matches up to Golf Cart Parade (golfcartparade.com)
Held each October in Palm Desert just 90 minutes to 2 hours outside of L.A., the temperature is predicted to be around 92 degrees during this weekend’s parade that includes marching bands, cheer squads, and golf carts of every design. The event is free, and rolls down El Paseo around 1 p.m. usually on Sunday in October.
