Monday, October 31, 2011 is Halloween Day. In addition to a full weekend of Halloween events, this is the night that sanctioned candy giving occurs. In California, kids like to go to richer neighborhoods than their own where they often get bigger candy bars. However, there have been a lot of defaults on expensive properties and when you go this year, you may find less homes occupied to get candy from in the luxury residential areas. You’ll do more walking & less knocking.
Maximum Candy Strategy: Do your homework. Check local schedules and start early at the strip malls as they like to have their trick or treat event around 3 or 4 p.m. Then head to the Main Streets. In Old Pasadena, candy apples are actually being distributed, and are but one of many opportunities to get bigger items. You can make Main Street your big event, but the crowds become massive toward the middle to end, and merchants sometimes run out of candy! If you just want the candy, get in early again, and get out. Then head to the neighborhoods of your choice. If you’re an adult without kids, then definitely get out and party. Halloween parties usually get going after 8 p.m. However, the biggest party in the world on Halloween in West Hollywood goes from 6 to 11 p.m. It’s called Carnaval, and is only recommended for adults. It may shock some adults, as well, due to the content of the costumes and shows. If that bothers you, don’t go!
Here are some events for MONDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2011. See more!
