Halloween’s here and this party animal has to take a break. He’s been partying too hard. Go for endurance!

We’re trying to stay one day ahead of the curve in keeping our friends informed about the variety of events you can attend this Halloween. In 2011, Saturday actually has more events going on than any other day, including Halloween day, Monday, October 31. That’s not to say there’s not much going on Monday. The Big West Hollywood Carnaval attracts half a million people to the biggest, free Halloween street party in the world, each Halloween. And the party weekend allows for some serious trick or treating on Monday, as well!

  • ALAMEDA Monster Bash Saturday, October 29, 2011. Come on board the Historic grey ghost, the USS Hornet for a Monster Bash party, tour, costume contest, etc.

  • BARSTOW – Mardi Gras Parade, Protecting the Freedom of Youth. Parade floats, bands, equestrian units, and community spirit marches down the streets of Barstow at this annual event.   • CAMARILLO Ghost Squadron Halloween Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, 8 p.m. Set inside an airplane hangar with real ghost squadron fleet Warbird planes, this will Ventura County’s hottest Halloween party with a line up of bands featuring members from Guns N’ Roses, Alice in Chains and L.A. Guns.

  • FAIRFAX Halloween at Deer Park . 10 a.m. Event starts with a short hike in Deer Park, looking for signs of autumn. Have plants gone to seed? Which trees drop their leaves? Why are spiders so conspicuous this time of year? Bring a snack and then gather under the Halloween tree for a story. Deer Park is located in Fairfax.   • HAWAIIAN GARDENS Haunted House Oct. 28 – 31, 2011. Never a dull moment for children at this special haunted house that creates a safe, fun haven for kids during Halloween.
  • LAGUNA NIGUEL Haunted Trails October 27 -29, 2011. A very scary event for older kids and adults who can handle a good scare, this is a very popular attraction, no refunds.
  • LA QUINTA – Art Under the Umbrellas Over 70 artists participate at each Art Under the Umbrellas event, located along the closed-off streets of this charming outdoor venue in Old Town La Quinta. Don't miss an enjoyable day outdoors perusing artist wares, exploring Old Town shops, and dining in Old Town restaurants.   • REDONDO BEACH – Na Ka’ao: the Hawaiian Legends. This Hawaiian Musical production at Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center was inspired by the lyrics of H?poe, Laie’ikawai and Poliahu, written by Frank Hewett.   • SANTA ROSA Halloween at Howarth Trick or Treat. Howarth Park annual Halloween includes a costume parade, train rides and a carousel. There’s also a floating Pumpkin Patch at the Swim Center!
  • SOLVANG Haunted House October 29 & 31, 2011. The Solvang Theater transforms into a Haunted House for Halloween. There are two nights of entertaining thrills, plus an early youngsters version of the haunted house that isn’t scary.
  • STANTON Halloween Fun, 12-4 p.m. The event invites families, friends and little ones for a day of fun.
  • VENTURA Ghost Tales at the Olivas Adobe October 23 – 31, 2011. Join ghost researcher and author Richard Senate for stories and tales about reported ghost hauntings at the Olivos Adobe in Ventura, one of Ventura’s many haunted places.
  • VICTORVILLE High Desert Fear Festival, October 28 -31, 2011, 5 – 10 p.m. 28 haunted rooms to roam, daily contests, games, costume contest, special magical acts and more.
  • WALNUT CREEK Trick or Treat Walnut Creek October 28, 29 &31, 2011. There are several Halloween events in Walnut Creek ranging from Downtown Trick-or-Treat to ARF to Broadway Plaza. So much fun in one city!
